Mr Pepper looks after many families who are based outside the United Kingdom, and who are seeking expert paediatric ENT care for their child. Specialist Care

Mr Pepper is able to provide a full spectrum of Paediatric ENT services for children living abroad. Initially this starts with a telephone or video consultation, and discussion about the ongoing symptoms and history. Examination has often been performed by local doctors, and helps provide details for a diagnosis. In many cases a likely diagnosis can be given even at a distance, but for some children a review in person is needed.

Families often decide to arrange a journey to the UK, with a clinic appointment pre-arranged by my team. This allows further discussion of the medical details and thorough examination and any relevant tests such as a hearing test or scans.

In some cases surgery is likely to be the recommended treatment option. In this situation, my team can help organise clinic appointments, surgery dates and admission times, as well as follow up appointments even before leaving home, to help streamline the process.

Specialist Paediatric ENT services are often limited around the world, and the full range of surgery and techniques may not be available locally. Specific examples and common reasons for travelling to see Mr Pepper include:

  1. The modern technique for tonsil surgery, using the minimally invasive Coblation technique, which reduces pain and bleeding risk and improves recovery after surgery. Mr Pepper has performed several thousand tonsil operations using this technique, and has been involved in the research behind it.

  2. Extensive experience looking after children with complex medical conditions, such as underlying genetic disorders or breathing problems, which would be high risk without a specialist team.

  3. Specialist paediatric anaesthesia. Mr Pepper only works with a small team of Consultant Anaesthetists who are experts in childrens anaesthesia, including managing children with complex medical disorders and those who are very young. This team work and combined expertise minimises the risk associated with anaesthesia.

  4. Specialist Children’s Hospital. Mr Pepper only sees patients and operates in specialist children’s hospitals, the Portland Hospital for Women and Children, and the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. This ensures the nurses, play therapists, and allied teams are dedicated to caring for children.
